That's because the show has never been released on DVD or been re-screened due to the fact that very few of the episodes are archived. As for ratings I'd assume that they would be three or four stars due to the fact that they are the main police vehicles used in the series. -- Last edit: 2010-08-15 14:55:43 |

Believe it or not, back in the 1960s and 1970s the BBC re-recorded over the master tapes of old programmes, which were not regarded as worth anything, to save the cost of new tapes. |

I'm reading the book titled "Winds of destruction" - memoir of Rhodesian fighter pilot. Quote:"To distinguish between gunships, Rhodesian troopers and SAAF troopers, abbreviations were introduced. Influenced by a popular British Police TV series then showing in Salisbury and entitled ‘Z Cars’, the helicopters became: K‑Car (Kay)–gunship (killer)‑cum‑command post G‑Car (Gee)–trooping and general purpose–Rhodesian Z‑Car (Zed)–trooping and general purpose–SAAF". |

Added a selection of extant Z Cars episodes spanning 1962-1969. Planning to add the 1970s segments in the near future as well. Some backgrounds were omitted due to quality issues. Blackpool trams in ep. 2.05 ... and in ep. 6.257 Toys in ep. 1.03 Triumph Spitfire poster in ep. 3.17 A young unknown Judi Dench in ep. 3.02, possibly best known for playing 'M' in James Bond: |

@Yanamation - The episode numbers do not seem to match what IMDB and Wikipedia list |

Added cars from 43 surviving episodes of the vast sixth series (1967-70). Hopefully that's the last major batch of black-and-white episodes before I get cracking on the episodes in colour. Bloke looks like a young Anton Chigurh: Some frog sculpture: Clock: Television: Typewriter: Order-related encouragement/propaganda signs: Toy car: Pinball machine: Toy helicopter for IMPDb (Ep. 6.057): Radio: Car door: Grilles and plates hanging about in ep. 6.044, left one's a Ford Cortina MkI, less sure about the other; Zodiac MkIII perhaps?: Telephone: Traffic light: Bloke looks like a cross between Michael Caine and Henry Kissinger: |

Dinky 270 Ford Escort Mk1 Police, later released with Speedwheels, and there was also a screw-it-together/paint-it-yourself "kit" version, so some strange home-made schemes resulted. |

Title screen used for S7 onwards: Added a selection of surviving episodes from the seventh series (1971-73), as no episodes from 1971 survive, we'll make do with 1972 and 1973. Took longer than I thought! I should clarify that I use the Wikipedia episode list and not the one listed on IMDb. Background vehicles: Ep. 7.066 Ep. 7.074 Ep. 7.086 Ep. 7.096 Ep. 7.102 Plane models for IMPDb (ep. 7.086 'Old Acquaintance'): Motorcycle poster: Magazines: The 70s - the most hairy decade there was, for better or worse. Some headshots: Record: Jukebox: Telex: Telephones: Model railway: Hobby shop: Police radio: Bus station sign: Bus station clock: Lyons Maid ice cream stand: Radio: Railway crossing signal: Rice Crispies box: Wall clock: Porcelain figurines: -- Last edit: 2024-08-06 18:24:38 |
