This is stunt car we take part...

From that video, it looks like there will be some interesting car action (as usual with the latest episodes of the "Die Hard" series :D)

Article on Jalopnik about this film, has a good amount of on-site pics showing the various M-B products, and a good few interesting background vehicles, including a first generation Ford Galaxy, European Grand Cherokee, C-Klasse coupe, E-Klasse cabriolet, a Citroen XM that seems to be taking a beating, VW Polo(?), Citroen Xsara Picasso(?), and more.

A lot of expensive cars were destroyed in the car chase. Makes no fun for me nowadays. Cheaper ones wouldn't change the story or action.

It looks cheap when you use only cheap cars for that...

Die Hard With a Vengeance (the third one) was the last Die Hard movie for me. The newer ones (Live Free or Die Hard - the fourth one) seem too Hollywood-fied. Like in the fourth one where the semi-tractor trailer is climbing the freeway as it collapsed – while being attacked by a fighter jet. I mean seriously?

Hopefully this will be the last one made.

This film has been record for the most vehicles destroyed in film history. In all, 132 cars were completely destroyed and 518 damaged during filming, according to director John Moore.

Man, this is even worst then The Fast and the Furious, and Transformers film series.

For the number of vehicles damaged maybe, but there were much more destroyed in the movie "The Junkman":

Here are some information I collected via the internet:

"There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again," said A Good Day to Die Hard director John Moore to USA Today. "Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there... That's the fun of it," he added. "With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is…So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic," said Moore.

Interestingly enough, that $11 million tally didn't include a "several" Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUVs. According to Moore, the German automaker provided G wagons at no cost for filming, and, of course, all of them were wrecked.

Nothing beats the 532 cars that Michael Bay permanently retired during the making of Transformers 3. Although at least Bay seems to have a conscience, or a valid excuse for the carnage he wrought on the movie set. “These are cars that are flood-damaged,” Bay told Reuters. “Car companies give them to us because by law they have to be crushed, so I am the perfect guy to do that.”

"There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again," says Moore, somewhat gleefully. "Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there. ... That's the fun of it." "With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is," Moore adds. "So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic." All told, it's one expensive scene playing out over several minutes and featuring some classic Willis one-liners, especially as he's literally driving over the cars. "Someone showed me the numbers on the car chase and soup to nuts, you put it all together it was like an $11 million sequence."

Several of pricey Mercedes-Benzes died in the pursuit of great stunts. More pain for Moore, especially the ones with the supercharged engines. In fact the director even was tempted to spare one of the cars when he was told he could keep it. "And there was a moment where it was like, 'If I don't wreck it, they said I can keep it.' I really had this St.-Paul-on- the-road-to-Damascus moment." Needless to say, he stayed true to the Gods of Destruction. "We wrecked it, I'm happy to say," says Moore. "It was like if I don't wreck it, I'm done directing."

...and I (the idiot who is writing this) is still paying my montly installment payment for my (normal) car. Maybe I should steal a car from the filmmakers.

Where are those new cars from? I didn't see those scenes in the movie. Is there an extended version of the chase?

I added a few missing cars, it is good that the other captures were already mostly in HD, as replacing all would be a hard work (especially since there are notime-tags listed...)

They filmed this in Hungary with the capital; Budapest standing in as Moscow.

The Chernobyl scene would've been filmed in Hungary as there are a 30km exclusion zone around Chernobyl Power Plant and the town within the zone is still radioactive.
