Don't look it up, at 72 it'll destroy your ears. |

Iron Maiden is a famous and popular British heavy metal band formed in East London in 1975 and still going strong 45 years later. I'm surprised you never heard of them. -- Last edit: 2020-02-19 19:42:06 |

Especially considering that Bruce Dickinson is a connoisseur of other kinds of heavy metal, namely aircraft and steam locomotives. |

@John: Imagine a construction site with guitars - that's all you want to know about it. ![]() |

If it can’t be played at 78rpm, I don’t do it. |

I can check this for you. I (unintentionally) happen to own one of their vinyl albums somewhere. If I ever find it, I'll let you know what my gramophone makes of it. ![]() |

I’m sure John would prefer the medieval box with heavy metal spikes ![]() |

I think that I would prefer the spikes to heavy metal music. For musical relaxation I'll stay with Roger Wolff Kahn, or Jack Hylton. |

I think Iron Maiden might be too much for JFS, I'm a 70's rock dinosaur and I don't like 'em. The bluesier end of Led Zep' might be a better introduction to the joys of the guitar riff. |

if i had to pick a british rock band for guitar introduction i think i'd prefer Pink Floyd ![]() i don't know that much about Iron Maiden ( surprisingly ) i know the name, a few songs, they sold a bunch of T-shirts.. -- Last edit: 2020-02-20 00:25:52 |

Good little picture! Interesting to see Alan Hale, Jr. just before he took his "three-hour tour", and I got a good laugh out of the writers trying to pass off a Handley Page Victor bomber as a new British airliner .The tractors - sorry, traction engines - were new to me as vintage collectibles. Neat stuff. -- Last edit: 2020-02-20 04:09:56 |

Tractor — Link to "archive.commercialmotor.com" Traction engine — see above. As far as the aircraft go, I don’t think we had got over the Comet disasters when this film was made. I recall being distinctly twitchy about flying on a DanAir Comet IV. You may find some interest in looking up the locations used for this film which are listed by IMDB. I have memories of the Dorchester, but perhaps we’d best not go there! -- Last edit: 2020-02-20 08:38:14 |

For once I'm really excited seeing these atmospheric pictures, wishing I was right there at this steam engine event in 1963 - and the movie isn't available on DVD! ![]() |

I attended quite a number of these events at the time. We had a local show every year that was both large and well attended by the public and the machines. They still have a number of gatherings every year, but now not locally. |

I'll probably stick with Mike Pingitore on the banjo, thanks. |
