Yes "dieselpwr", I think we must! It's a Bell 222. "stronghold", your white twin-jet is the one-off Skyfox Corporation Skyfox, a rebuild of the old Lockheed T-33 jet trainer made in anticipation of a rebuild market for those air forces still operating the "T-Bird". There were no takers, and many are still in service today, including Iran! Even a takeover of the project by Boeing failed to drum-up interest. The 2-view from "Airwolf's computer database" is a MiG-23, it says so on the screen!! Being a show primarily about aviation, it featured many different aircraft. The memorable episode with the Chinese "Triad" gang destroying rival farmers' crops with petrol-spraying Rockwell Thrush Commander agplanes, leading to a memorable encounter between Airwolf and a plain silver P-51D Mustang; and an episode I remember featuring the Reno Air Races, with a "new revolutionary racer" being played by the experimental Avtek 400A twin-turboprop pusher canard, which goes on to fight with Airwolf in a later scene, after it is armed-up, because really it's an undercover fighter! Interestingly, the Bell 222 was a dedicated CIVILIAN project, with no military spin-off. One episode features a rival attack helicopter, played by the Sikorsky S-76, as the "HX-1". The S-76 WAS a military-inspired programme, using experience from the Blackhawk development, and an armed prototype was flown! How ironic!!! |

I used to watch it religiously, and from it developed an intensely unhealthy obsession with helicopters that continues to this day !!! |

On the Air-Britain Photographic images website, the most popular pic is the 'Airwolf' 222 at an airshow at Shafter airfield(Bakersfield, CA) in 1986. |

Series One Completed: Episode 1.01 is listed twice on IMDb as episode 1.01 and as a separate movie. Here it is listed as: /movie_86862-Airwolf.html I added Stronghold's aircraft shots at IMPDb some time ago: http://www.impdb.org/index.php?title=Airwolf_%28TV_Series%29 (I am sure I commented in this page then but it appears I didn't) will add the aircraft from the rest of the first series when I have more time later this week. -- Last edit: 2011-09-02 16:16:07 |
