 The trains are on the S-Bahn, not the U-Bahn.

 And for that reason the West-Berliner have boycotted the S-Bahn. They took rather their own transport-systems.

Before the Wall felt down, there were several,since August 1961 unused S-Bahn-stations in nice, abandoned condition. Nice objects to take pictures. Unfortunatley today they are renovated an in use again.
