We now have a specific flag for Made in Rhodesia ARonline's BMC in Rhodesia page also has some other info in comments: "Vauxhalls were imported fully built-up, either from the GM plant in Port Elizabeth, South Africa (basic Viva, Victor, Velox) or in more up-market form from Luton (SL variants, VX4/90, Cresta). Cairns Motors had dealerships in all the main cities featuring Chevrolet, Pontiac, Vauxhall, Opel, Holden and Bedford, effectively duplicating the full GM South Africa line-up. The Willowvale Ford plant built an incredible array of vehicles sourced from around the globe – Anglia, Consul 315, Cortina, Corsair, Zephyr, Zodiac, Taunus 12M & 15M, Galaxie 500, Ford F150/250 pick-ups, Thames 15cwt vans, Thames Trader 3-tonners, and Fordson tractors, with all of them coming down the same assembly line! ..... Forgot to mention the Ford Falcon … it too was assembled at Willowvale" |
