 Episode 2.01 is set in Paris in new year eve of 1985-1986, and most likely filmed there.
It is funny that most of the cars visible are models that were also sold in North-America (except the Renault 20, barely visible) but here it seems the cars are the original French ones. Possibly they choose these cars on purpose to have the opportunity to shot additional scenes in USA with what they could find locally? Or is it just a coincidence, as anyway many French cars of that time were sold in USA.

 Car interiors filmed in the studio would be my bet. They would want to spend all their time in Paris on location, not stuck in a greenscreen studio because they could match the car back home.

 There were no scenes with just car interiors... except the scene where the R20 is visible :D
In other scenes they were only seen exiting/entering the cars.
