I've heard of this one. Someone described it to me as one of the most terrifying things they had ever seen.

Yes, it's the documentary style that makes it most effective.

I meant " IMPDB.org " but I can't edit without breaking the Photobucket links.

Yes - even Hillman Imps aren't safe. I remember watching it when it came out - brilliant. The writer - Barry Hines - wrote the book Kestrel for a Knave which became the film Kes.

I saw this movie once on PBS in 1985 and I have never, ever forgotten it. One of the most terrifying movies I have ever seen.

Gave this one a watch. It was decent, though the characters felt flata and I wasn't a fan of the plot stopping after the government workers are found dead and the film just kind of meandering on from there. The attack sequence and the scenes showing the aftermath were good (the final scene with Jimmy's dad was very well done) but once the film started jumping years ahead, it kind of lost me. I would have ended the film with Ruth giving birth to Jane and then fearing for her daughter's safety, health, and future instead of Jane's stillborn birth, or just had Ruth give birth to stillborn baby.

There were scenes that were eerie and effective, like the hospital scene which I would almost classify as brutal, but I found this film to be not as intense or effective as The Day After, likely because I'd heard and read that this is the scariest movie ever made, you'll never sleep again, makes The Day After look like a cakewalk, etc, etc, so my expectations were set very high and the film just wasn't able to meet them. It was still a good film and I would watch it again, it just could have spent more of it's runtime building up the characters and less time meandering. Also showing the emotional toll it takes on people instead of just stating facts, like Ruth mourning her family and wondering if it's even worth going on to deliver her baby, would have helped.
