G-MANN ◊ 2007-01-01 23:19	Typical widescreen format on a computer (with DVD at least) is 1024x576 pixels, the size limit for main images on this site is 720x576, so you must resize the image while keeping the same aspect ratio.

Yes, you're right, I just have a method where I enlarge the 720x576 image (which has the wrong ratio is the film is in widescreen, which nearly all DVDs are) to 1024x576, then I crop away the black edges which give the "letterbox effect", than I resize to 719 by whatever the height is (maintaining the aspect ratio). It's just a habit I've gotten into.
