"Crime Story" (1986-1988)

Chicago, 1963. As head of the police department's Major Crime Unit, Lieutenant Michael Torello must deal with the city's most dangerous criminals. And possibly the most dangerous of all is Ray Luca, a young ambitious street hood who's out to gain wealth and power by whatever means - including theft, threats, extortion and murder. As Luca begins his ruthless climb up the ladder of organized crime, leaving a growing number of victims in his wake, Torello becomes more and more determined to bring him down.

The two year span of the series takes Torello and the Major Crime Unit (MCU) through the gritty streets of 1963 Chicago and ultimately to Mafia run Las Vegas. Cars of the era are used prominantly throughout the series in action scenes and chases as well as to add texture and flavor to the subjects being filmed. This show is the Grandfather of the current "True Crime" fad in television. All of the C.S.I.s', Cold Cases', and Unsolved whatevers' of the world owe a mountain of gratitude to this amazing show. Add the cars and the setting, and this series' status as an American Cult Classic is set in stone.

Yep, and Torello drives a black '57 300 C convertible (drooool!!!) with incorrect red interior.

I loved this show, too... Title melody was "Little Runaway", wasn't it?

I fondly remember one episode in which the gangster ran away in white and red '55 Packard Clipper. At that time I had a '56 in my garage that never would see resurrection. (Meantime replaced by a '56 Packard Executive Hardtop which ids nearly completed. But that's another story....

IMDB says that thru bloopers of that series are:

--1959 Fords of squad that had all hubcaps of 1964(in 1963!)models

--Observing better, sometimes could be spotted post-'63 cars and on background even more modern cars but if by far distance, guess

@admins, Which episode should I do as Ep. 1.11, "Crime Pays" or "Hide and Go Thief"? "Crime Pays" is a clip show, and "Hide and Go Thief" is an actual episode, some sites such as IMDB list "Crime Pays" as the 11th episode, and some other sites list "Hide and Go Thief" as the 11th episode. Which episode should I go with?
