the text claims only 2 were build !! based on a IHC 1310 chassis, guess the engine is Chevrolet V8 and here says MARTE build 9 of this in total 7 based Land Rover and 2 on IHC the IHC chassis is longer so main one must be one of them maybe should be listed as Marte origin Autria ? based on IHC 1310 -- Last edit: 2025-05-04 17:46:16 |

Some background info on the previous Land Rover-based conversions. They started as the Swiss-built Muller Alpine in 1968, using LR SIIB Forward Control chassis and cabin/front bodywork from Hanomag F-Series, debuted at 1968 Geneva show - not sure how many made, but lots of orders placed. Design was then bought by Marte - Austria as mentioned - and possibly 16 built. In 1972 L-R stopped supplying SIIB components, so Marte filled its one remaining order by adapting a 109" chassis to create a unique 110" S3 FC-like conversion. No idea what happened to Marte afterwards. Source is a L-R bible which has 2 pics - one each for Muller and Marte; as Mike's linked L-R pics they both look shorter than the subject car and only have one sidestep cut-out instead of 2. -- Last edit: 2025-05-04 19:31:40 |

another pic of Land Rover based one and again looks too short ![]() here a Chevy based one but it too looks shorter than main ![]() the IHC 1310 was used as fire truck in US and seems to be the right length ![]() but I would list this as Marte based on IHC 1310 origin austria [** @ Mike - have corrected a typo in my original comment and therefore edited your quote to keep things in line. Nothing else changed ** dsl] -- Last edit: 2025-05-04 19:37:36 (dsl) |
