Yes, that is is true. :
Perhaps it does have three seperate seats in the rear, they could be disguished by the red headed boy and the hair of the woman....

 Weren't the Espace I seats always of the same (or at least very similar) size? Here it simply looks like a 2 part asymmetrically divided "sofa"... Saw recently many pics of the 1st gen. cars from various years and none did have such rear seat...
