Eddie Bauer edition, imported to Russia. Not exactly good placement for a plate of that size, its width and height leave only a small area open for the center air-intake. The heavy-duty auxiliary transmission fluid cooler radiator (separate from the main engine radiator) sits just behind the center air-intake. Without proper air flow to cool the return lines, the transmission fluid cooler would be hindered in its ability to keep the 4-speed 4R100 automatic cool and composed under load. It might not affect it too much in normal driving, but loaded driving (such as heavy-duty towing) could cause the transmission to reach above normal temperatures, which in turn, could shorten its overall life span. |
