Being 1987 or older, it would have the two-speed dual range Land Rover LT230 transfer case with manual centre differential lock. For the 1989 model year, the Range Rover switched to an American four-wheel drive system. Land Rover replaced the LT230 transfer case with a two-speed dual range BorgWarner 13-61-004 transfer case, which featured an automatic viscous centre differential lock. The viscous-lock would progressively increase its "lock" or "clamping force" based on the severity of slipping between the front & rear prop (drive) shafts. |
