Okay, eliminating evidence in comparison to the myriads of other motor vehicle manufacturers of the time? And I would think the British would prefer a car from home, but that's debatable. -- Last edit: 2026-01-10 12:00:41 |

Front is curved, so De Dion-Bouton Steering wheel is centred, so 1901, therefore Type G 4 Front facing seats, so Forward Control Therefore this is a 1901 De Dion-Bouton Type G 4.5hp Forward Control |

"Therefore this is a 1901 De Dion-Bouton Type G 4.5hp Forward Control" As Gamer states there were a myriad of manufacturers in those early years; cars being literally built in garden sheds. There were perhaps twenty manufacturers in Coventry alone in the period we refer to in the UK as veteran. As for this being a 1901 De Dion Bouton Type G: I am afraid not. The front springing arrangement is wrong for a De Dion of that period, and also, a 'trait' of De Dion at that time was that the wheels were all of the same diameter. It can clearly be seen that with this example, that is not the case? |

The full elliptical springs were the first thing that struck me as to that it isn't a De Dion. On the DD the springs have more of a taller, hook shape. (BTW I realize the correct English pronounciation is 'de-DEE-on' but my mind and mouth always say 'de-dee-ON') -- Last edit: 2026-01-14 19:31:19 |
