How does one tell an ID from a DS of this period? Maybe I need to do some Citroen research. |

Almost every model year had other differences between DS and ID... ANd also there were differences for different export markets. And lots of ID models mocked up to pretend to be an upmarket DS. Generally speaking the ID had fewer decorations, a straight dashboard, a less powerful engine, hydraupneumatics only for the suspension and the brakes. A DS had more trim, a curved dashboard, hydraulically powered steering, and excep for the 'Mécanique' versions (in USA 'Grande Route') also hydraulically powered clutching and gearshifting. The one shown here is a 1966 model (colour is Brun Sardoine, AC 420, only available in m.y. 1966; colour of the roof is Blanc Carrare, AC 144, upholstery is leather). It's a US version: 4 round taillights, protruding rear turn signals. And, with all this trim and the leather interior it's a DS Pallas. |
