Sorry, I don't know in detail about "licence made". But they say not a license made. And certainly seems diffrent from chassie and drive train and so. In this picture, front differlential-gear sets on driver side, on the other hand GAZ sets passenger side. -- Last edit: 2006-01-04 20:52:36 |

The ARO jeeps were made under a licence/factory agreement according to Gaz-69. But the Romanians improved the jeep and it has some differences from its "parent" - i think a different engine, some decorative elements, like lights etc. |

ARO M 461(1964-uptodate former IMS-57)were sold in Italy only in 1971-1973 period(in 1969 were imported--by Marbros Firm--in our Country already the car at which was inspired the GAZ 69-M);Autorom,former Aro Importer for Italy,will import and sold few M 461 ones with original Aro L-25 engine(prefering offer it with own-fitted 2,1 lt.Peugeot 504 D engines option,more powerful);the sales in Italy will ends when in 1973(was shown for 1st time in Italy during 1972 Turin M.S.)were started the imports of its modernization,just the 1970-launched in Rumania 240 series--in 1972-'73 was already ended the Russian GAZ 69-M production,that of Rumanian clone--that over the engine,differs for some little details by Russian counterpart--will follows some years later) PS The M 461 was sold also in Greece,I've seen a one in a 1976 movie;apart that was in service into Rumanian Army, seems was assembled in CKD-kits in Vietnam for same military tasks |

ARO M-461. State police vehicle. (Look at the plate number: EX < ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΧΩΡΟΦΥΛΑΚΗ =Greek Gendarmerie) 1971/72 model. Aro vehicles were imported to Greece from Romania. See also ![]() |

Old comment, but by what I read once, there weren't any licence agreement. In short - first in Romania they started to make spare parts to imported GAZes 69, finally they made so many parts, that could start to built from them entire cars ![]() |
