Hood (the tarp) reminds me of an Owen Magnetic, but the rest of the car is all wrong.

Another similar one but looking well - used. Maybe the same car - in 1926? Of course in this link 14Stutz says Stutz never made a 4 door - which is rubbish. /vehicle_572989-Stutz.html

Presumably Vidor with wife and child, owner of a new Stutz, which he also used in the movie. (Why else would they take a photograph in it, you can hardly see the baby.)
