On army vehicles starting in 1957 until 1992 the middle two letters refer to the age of the vehicle and FM =1972/73 which would fit. Different blocks of letters were issued to each of three vehicle classes A (Armoured) B ( Transport) and C ( Construction ). The number blocks for B vehicles are here- http://forum.lro.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=53831 Naval vehicles were all numbered RN and RAF vehicles all had A prefix. Interesting ! By the way, I have a scale model of a military Land Rover Wolf with an LX 03 AA reg plate. Is that number plausible ? |

Don't know as it all changed in 93 ! see link above. But L could mean 2003 / 2004 would that fit ? |
