Spider's eye lights, so I'd say SC1. But jfs is not convinced this works for splitting SC1 from SC2.

Since you can change them in about the same time as it takes to fill the petrol tank, using nothing more sophisticated than a screwdriver with a flat blade, indeed I am never convinced.

It is, however, odd that they appear on an American located car, I thought that such lights did not conform to their regulations.

Where is Miss Thornton? There, one assumes, in Spirit only. Perhaps she saw the tasteless whitewall tyre and decided not to be seen in its company.

I'm only following what chris40 used to regularly say that spider's eye was SC1 (3 legs) and Bentley S1 (2 legs) only, with plain glass on SC2 and S2, eg
chris40 wrote ... The 'spider' is a bulb cover inside the headlamp glass; IIRC in the case of the Bentley it had only two legs, but older UK market versions (Lucas P700) had three, e.g.: http://www.co-oc.org/VP3Lmk2.gif

chris40 wrote The only visual difference I know of between SC1 and SC2 applies only to home (and possibly European, I'm not sure) market cars: SC1s have Lucas P700 headlights with 'spiders' in, SC2s have ordinary old Lucas sealed beams.

Haven't found any other info source. But this is the 2nd foreign 2-legged RR after /vehicle.php?id=974877 in a few days - maybe 2-legged was used on LHD RRs for some reason at some point???

No doubt he may have been correct, but since they are so easy to swap, and the car could have been about sixty years old at the time of filming, you might as well try to date it by looking at the windscreen wiper blades. The light output of the 7" Lucas sealed beam unit is superior to the factory fitted item, take it from me.

... so SC1 and S1 would often be updated with newer (better) sealed beams - seems fair enough. But it also suggests - as illogical to change backwards to worse lights - that spiders are still reliable indications for unmodified SC1 and S1??

Tasteless? Tasteless is whitewalls on a Phantom VI. The whitewalls here contribute to the car's gorgeousness.

Whitewalls are utterly and completely beyond the pale unless fitted to an American convertible. Full stop, no arguments.

It's like seeing your grandma with a pierced eyebrow.

Unless the spares availability caused such a thing to happen. The silvering on unsealed units deteriorates and reduces the light output, necessitating change but I agree retrofitting does seem a bit unlikely.
