Sterling SC-8000 Schwarze Sweeper. Model origin: UK. I'm getting some conflicting info on where these were built for the US market. Looks like some were built in the US and other built in Brasil and imported. |

My impression is you don't understand what a "simple truck" is... |

The problem is not that some of these are labeled correctly, but that others are labeled "Simple truck" (I noticed that too, years ago). Who cares, anyway? |
|

It is not clear As I said on the other page, for me these should be listed as simple truck as they are just slightly modified trucks, unlike some other models that are specially built for the task. |

Yeah, well... A modified truck, even slightly (though I'm not sure they are so slightly modified; for instance the sweepers, at least some of them, don't they have water inside, which makes them tank trucks?) cease to be a simple truck. A simple truck must just carry something (but not liquids, in my opinion, this needs some special equipment for loading, transport and unloading; the dump and garbage trucks are also not included). If they don't just carry something, they are not simple trucks anymore. -- Last edit: 2026-08-26 17:42:59 |

I tend to agree. |
|
◊ 2026-08-26 19:50 |
The thing is that the sweeper category is in "other vehicles", i.e. those that are not cars/bikes/buses/trucks. |

^ should be simple truck to ID them you need someone who can ID truck cabs not being burred in other category sweeper makes sense to be for purpose build vehicles to just adapted trucks this things should be sweeper because this is their whole purpose from the ground up /v252818.html -- Last edit: 2026-08-26 20:08:04 |

How the truck are you meant to search for these? Having them under 'simple truck' makes it damn near impossible |
|
◊ 2026-08-26 20:10 |
maybe you guys should start clearing the unknowns in simple truck category ? anyway say this thing appears at bad angle , to ID it would 't you need someone who can recognize truck cabs ? and would be listed "Mercedes" rather than "Scarab" anyway -- Last edit: 2026-08-26 20:11:37 |

◊ 2026-08-26 20:16 |
Or maybe you and some others shouldn't be so fixated on unknowns as if there's a time limit to clear out the all the unknowns and mis-IDs. |
|
◊ 2026-08-26 20:24 |
That's what I've been saying. |

unknown simple trucks is now 150 pages it would take 3 hours just to scroll thru them /vehicles.php?resultsStyle=asImages&yearFrom=&yearTo=&makeMatch=2&make=unknown&modelMatch=1&model=&modelInclModel=on&modelInclChassis=on&mk=&class63=63&origin=&madein=&madefor=&role= if you don't start cleaning up now then when ? and I would be willing to bet 1/3 at least could be easy ID or delted for no cab visible or being sixcyl specials -- Last edit: 2026-08-26 20:29:58 |

OK - I can get my head round that. I don't think just "simple truck" is the best category. Sweepers in my mind are nor so different from sprayers, drainage/gully emptiers, possibly even gritters, road marking paint trucks, and other stuff that does things to roads, rather than uses roads to shift stuff (or people). And maybe can be hybrids (eg both sweeper and sprayer). Not going to lose much sleep over this, but as said above, let's try to put them in one place where they can be easily retrieved. |

I don't know about you, but I'm here to have fun. That doesn't sound like fun at all. |

These administrators are bogged down with so many people requesting changes. The best thing is placing the information on the comment and see how long it will update ![]() |

Well we can also decide to put all of these in that sweeper category. It is not a so big deal that some trucks fall in the "Others" group, as we already have the issue with ambulances based on heavy trucks, which fall in the Car category. And I don't think adding another sweeper category in the Trucks group would be a good idea, just to keep these trucks in the Truck category. Anyway the important part is that everyone uses the same "rule" Are there people other than me who were for having these listed as simple trucks? Or would everyone OK with putting all these as sweepers? -- Last edit: 2026-08-27 09:57:36 |

Agree. Also to add to the list of doing things to roads rather than on roads is snow ploughs. Building roads is separately covered under construction & engineering stuff |
|
◊ 2026-08-27 10:59 |
To me this is function over form. Keep it as it is. If this isn't primarily a sweeper, then what is? |
|
◊ 2026-08-27 11:03 |
A snow plough is mounted to - typically - a truck, or a trailer. They can usually be removed and you are left with a mounting bracket. Still a truck. |

What about vehicles from Mad Max, do these trucks count as sweepers/snowplough? It is less a permanent conversion than the usual sweeper, those would keep their original category then. Sometimes that equipment it is also added to tractors rather than trucks. If there are purpose-built snowplows/snowploughs they can go with sweepers then, I suppose. -- Last edit: 2026-08-27 19:47:13 |

By the way: www.imcdb.org/vehicle_338510-Fiat-693.html If that's a simple truck, all trucks are simple trucks. In other words, there are only simple trucks. There are no other kinds of trucks. Logically, we need a category for each model. -- Last edit: 2026-08-27 20:00:35 |

The Romanian classic trucks collection of Petru Filca. The KrAZ isn't his, but is there, for some reason (anyway, I love it). Unfortunately, it lacks a Roman (Filca says he wanted one, but he has no more money for it) and an SR 101 (he searched one for a long time, but they are virtually extinct). As a truck mechanic and driver, he restored them himself (there are videos about that). www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl0DJP7gibQ Sorry, no subs! |
