The family car. We will likely get some better pictures of it in later episodes, if registered in Meißen (Saxony) it might be from the GENEX-catalogue...

The steering wheel references its nickname in Germany "Duck":

Round lights re-introduced Sept 81. My guess would be 2CV 6 Special on the assumption that 2CV 4 had stopped by 1981 but I can't find a 2CV 4 end date.

Made for D due to the plastic protectors on the bumper ends.

Does not fit to the location of filming (Meißen is in Saxony, deepest Soviet Zone).
A 2CV is pure classic West German lifestyle, none Zoni had any relation to that.

I remember from my pre-1990-DDR-trips, that even the nickname "Ente" (=duck) was unknown there.

Hmm, AFAIK the 2CV was never in the GENEX-programme.
And the only officially by the DDR-regime imported Citroens -resp.the "made for DDR"-versions- were only GSA, BX and CX. Maybe the Visa appeared in some GENEX-catalogues.

I don't think it's that unlikely to have a 2CV in Saxony in the late 90s. The first season of Mama ist Unmöglich was shot in 1997, seven years after reunification. By then, everyone in the former east of Germany should have known about the 2CV, and at that time, it was still a rather present car that was still used as a normal everyday car by many, and used ones were cheap to come by, so if she liked the car and wanted one, it's not that unlikely that she simply bought one.

I was just wondering what type of Citroen 2CV this car actually is. In this picture you can see it saying ''2CV 6'' and then a longer word. It looks like it says ''Charleston'' but that couldn't be with that color, could it?

Could be the name of the dealer.

Thanks for the picture though. Black roof and badge with chevron - 1983-88.

Did they really put the name of the dealer on the black badges?

No, what a fool I am, of course they didn't...That is indeed a Charleston badge, which I will accept as resprayed:

1985-87 (the new badges came in 1988) by the black grille surround. Chromed headlight pots also very Charleston-like, as opposed to late Clubs (French Spécials) and first year Charlestons which had them painted. The jersey cloth seats in the steering wheel pic seem to be owner installed, I have no indications that they were ever offered on the Charleston.
