I think this one is a Darracq from about 1903. |

Seems a good chance it is pale yellow 1903 Darracq 8hp "Rear entrance tonneau" registered BS 8157 which is well photographed from modern appearances on London-Brighton run, although flicking through the various online pictures it seems the front lighting format changes in some cases; however this one looks about right. Also there are differences for rear door, mudguards and hood which can perhaps be explained as then-and-now evolutions. Or it's a different but very similar example. |

Dsl I think this is a bigger car than that yellow 8 hp as it has a rear door and is obviously longer. BS 8157 is a single cylinder model has no rear door and is either a swing front seat tonneau or has a rear entrance - http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Darracq:_BS_8157. I can't even be 100% certain that it is a Darracq as other makers used that radiator style. De Dietrich was one but they had chain drive. It is certainly no later than 1903 as that was about the last year for gilled tube radiators. BS 8034 is a twin but is still not side entrance - http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Darracq:_BS_8034 Darracq did build a four cylinder model in 1903 but I can't find a picture of one. There is a lot of interesting stuff here - http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Darracq - but nothing of help to us in this case. Note also the car here has later model - circa 1914 - electric lights. -- Last edit: 2016-04-30 23:33:00 |
