My former 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais International Edition with Quad4 engine died when the gasket between the engine block and the valve head deteriorated to the point when the cooling system entered the cylinder. It had about 126,000 miles on it and the body was already wasting away with Illinois' rust belt. ![]() |

I love GM cars but I hate the Quad 4. I went through two motors in two years in my 2001 Z24. The first motor had around 91,000 and the second had just over 50,000 miles. I got rid of it after that and bought a very trouble free Cobalt equipped with the EcoTech. |
