Profile for user cieraguy - Country: USA (United States of America)

Hi. My name is Matt and I'm from northeastern Pennsylvania. I consider myself a car guy and I love American cars. It's not that I think the Foreign cars are junk, it's what I prefer. I hope to one day own a 1987 Buick Grand National and 1991 Chevy or GMC Suburban. I prefer the old school cars compared to the new ones and the Panther cars (Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, Marauder, and Town Car) are the last of that kind. I drive a 4-cyl because of gas prices however.
I'm also highly into computers. I hope that I can contribute a great deal to this site with my ability to identify most american cars (especially the 80's and up). I hope that people on this site can learn from my knowledge and that I can learn a few things too.
Here's the small list of cars I have owned:

1). 1992 Chevy Cavalier RS wagon with the 3.1 liter V6. Given to me by my grandfather. Sold it for $150. Rust put an end to this car. It was very reliable and its V6 made it a good stoplight racer.
2). 1996 Ford Escort LX sedan. Paid $1350. It wasn't quick (88hp) or all that comfortable but the 1.9 liter engine got great mileage and it handled like a sports car. This car was totaled in an accident. I only had liability insurance and they gave me $50 for it.
3). 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera SL sedan with the 3.1 liter V6. Paid $950. It was good on gas (for a midsize) and quite powerful. It was not the best looking or the best handling car on the road but it was comfortable. This is my style of car (besides the front wheel drive). One of the pistons went on this car. Since I only paid $950 for it I sold ($250) it instead of fixing it.
4). 2001 Chevy Cavalier Z24. Paid $5800. It had the tourqey 2.4 liter DOHC engine and is pretty much loaded except there is no sunroof (the only one I saw without one). It was fast and sporty and got decent gas mileage. Like I said... I prefer the larger cars but I can't pass up a shiny black sport coupe either. lol. The motor went on me twice because the ld9's are not known for their stellar reliability. When it happened the second time, I got fed up and got rid of it. It's a shame too because this car was a fun drive. My friend recently found it in a junk yard... whoever owned it after me totaled it.
5). 2007 Chevy Cobalt LS coupe. I bought one of the last remaining 2007's for the tune of $10,300. It's a fairly basic car but its worlds ahead of the Cavalier in terms of design. So far I like it and hope to have it for a long time. It has the 2.2 liter Ecotec which has almost as much power as the 2.4 in the Z24 (148 vs. 150). The only option is the 4-speed auto. I just traded it in for my new Avenger.
6). 2000 Oldsmobile Brvada that I bought for $3,000. Primarily this used to be my winter vehicle because of gas prices. It had all of the bells and whistles like heated leather, moonroof, CD changer and much more. It's like a mini Escalade. I didn't plan on getting something this loaded for a winter vehicle but it seemed too good to pass up. I just sold it.
7). 1994 Ford Explorer. It's the 4-door in XLT trim. It comes with all the usual stuff, 4.0 V6, auto trans (that hopefully will serve me OK), and 4WD. It's the push button system but it has manual hubs so it makes me think that they have been replaced.I paid $2400 for it. The body is in really good shape for the age and the fact that we're in the snow belt... rock salt can be horrible to a car. There is not a speck of rust on this truck.
8). 2011 Dodge Avenger Heat... my current car. Yeah, I know you're probably thinking "Why the hell did he buy an Avenger?" I took it for a test drive, mainly out of curiosity, and came away quite impressed. The 2011 model is VERY different from earlier ones... the exterior is mostly the same but I've always liked the look of the Avenger anyway. The new interior has to be at the top of the class and the new Pentastar V6 has tons of power. I'm crossing my fingers for good long-term reliability but I otherwise I should be happy.
