From the day it happened in 1950 until late 1955, it was considered the crime of the century and the perfect crime until slighted gang member Joseph “Specs” O’Keefe, began cooperating with authorities after a falling-out with his partners. His co-operation led to the arrest of the rest of the conspirators just days before the statute of limitations expired.
