This film was based on the activities of the LAPD Organized Crime Intelligence Division (or the Gangster Squad); a specialized branch of the LAPD set up in 1946 to keep the US East Coast Mafia and other elements of organized crime out of Los Angeles. The Gangster Squad was also tasked with spying on corrupt police officers, the characters are based on real members of the squad: Max Kennard (portrayed by Robert Patrick) - Based on James Kennard, known as Doug and Jumbo; A son of police constable from Grand View, Texas, worked as oil worker on the oilfields in Oklahoma from 1929 to 1938 before moving to Los Angeles and working as parts man in a auto factory, joined the LAPD in the early 1940s and enlisted in the Gangster Squad in 1946, retired in 1951, later killed in a car crash on the night of the 1st March 1952. Colman Harris (portrayed by Anthony Mackie) - Based on Archibald Case, known as Archie; a beat patrol officer known as "The Mayor of the Watts Area" for his patrol of the Watts Area. -- Last edit: 2021-08-31 13:11:32 |

They used junkyard cars that couldn't run for scenes that involved damaging vehicles. Sustainably filmed. Good. |

That’s really cool, actually. I’m wondering if anybody can identify the bus they used for the conversion. |
