I think I figured out why Chinese viewers apparently stopped taking anti-Japanese WWII movies seriously... And this is supposed to be more drama than action. IMPDB: https://impdb.fandom.com/wiki/Ziri -- Last edit: 2022-06-03 06:40:57 |

I found this a few years ago if anyone is interested: https://movie.douban.com/subject/25884829/ "[The War To] Resist America [and] Aid Korea" (the Chinese name for the Korean War). From what I can gather it's a Chinese TV serial about the Korean War, filmed in the DPRK. It apparently stars Matt Damon (who plays Eisenhower) and Willem Dafoe as well as several big Russian and Japanese names. It was banned after 9/11 due to its scrupulization of the United States, and for fear of hurting Sino-American relations. All films depicting the Korean War were outlawed in China afterwards. The series has been stuck in development hell for 20 years and is finally supposed to be shown in the near future. |
