Loosely based on the career of Canadian Paralympic athlete Arnie Boldt, seven-tome gold medal winner on the high jump and long jump at the Paralympics! Strangely, the main character is played by two actors; Brent Carver in most scenes and Arnie Boldt himself in scenes and shots where the missing leg was visible. Why they didn't just have Boldt play the entire role? Notably aired a year before Terry Fox began the Marathon of Hope. Starring Brent Carver, Arnie Boldt, Kim Cattrall, Murray Westgate, Sara Botsford, Sean Sullivan, John Ireland and Kate Reid. Not the first movie about a handicapped athlete I've added. That was The Terry Fox Story, and A Winner Never Quits, about a baseball player with no right arm. Airdate: July 21st, 1979 |
