jpts ◊ 2025-11-24 05:05	This film was produced to highlight the issue of "canned hunting", a form of trophy hunting where wild animals - (e.g., lions) bred in captivity - e.g., wild animal farms, are killed in an enclosed pen. The way the canned hunting works is that people who run them would bring their clients to these wild animal farms where the client would select what animal to shoot and the animal is brought into a second pen and a second person armed with a rifle, shoot and kills the animal and then gives the rifle to the client where a photographer would take the photo to make it appear that the client had shot the animal themselves. At the time of the film's release, the practice of canned hunting was legal in South Africa, but in 2024, the South African Government brought in legislation that had saw the lion farms shut down and the animals in captivity released into the wild, but the Government still working on legislation to make canned hunting illegal in South Africa. -- Last edit: 2025-11-24 05:37:41
