The movie chronicles the founding of Toyota and it seems to be unreasonably obscure (all of 12 votes on IMDb as of this typing). Possibly for that reason it doesn't come with English subtitles, which is a small problem since throughout the movie a number of vehicles are shown as photos or drawings with captions. I used Google's AI to translate the captions and it seems most of them accentuate the important points in the timeline of the automotive industry abroad and in Japan. As several of these directly refer to the vehicles shown, that makes them not strictly backgroundmobiles, but I decided to go with the [*] rating for most of them anyway. I obviously also have no idea if Google AI's translations are correct, so I put them in comments and our Japanese(-reading) correspondents are welcome to comment accordingly.

Tokyo Gas & Electric Industry was one of the ancestors of Isuzu and in 1916 apparently merged with Tokyo Ishikawajiama Ship Building & Engineering Company to gear up for car production. In 1918 they signed a contract with Wolseley, and after 4 years experimentation and testing launched the locally built Wolseley A9 in December 1922.

Worth a page??

^ I'll happily create one, if anything is identifiable as something that is not a Wolseley A9 (as it has a page here).
