Oh happy day! I love this show, and I can't wait to see Mr. Draper's 1960 Buick, Invicta, I think it is. |

A friend of mine rents her cars out for this show. Last year they used her '52 Studebaker Land Cruiser. This year they used her '60 Edsel Ranger. Here's a photo taken on location at a ranch on 4/28/08. (Edited by vilero. Note: in comments use only thumbnails for forums. Thanks) -- Last edit: 2012-04-26 09:33:56 (vilero) |

Season 2 opens with a 62 (I assume since it's treated like a new car and the setting is St. Valentine's Day 1962) Mercury Colony Park, a 56 Plymouth Belvedere Suburban, a tow truck (41 Chevrolet?) and a 58-59 Nash or Rambler Ambassador, the driver of which the wife of Don Draper asks for assistance when her car (the Mercury) breaks down. -- Last edit: 2008-07-28 05:58:37 |

My friend told me her Edsel went on another location shoot on Monday. If I get anymore pics or info, I'll post it. |

I now realize the ranch photo carguy60 posted is the place where Betty Draper (wife of Don) rides horses. So we will see the more of the Edsel? What a happy reunion! |

I can't wait for season 3 to premiere this Sunday! My friend told me the exterior shooting with the cars took place about 3 weeks ago. They shoot all the cars for the entire season at one time. She was unable to go with her '60 Edsel Ranger, so she sent a friend with a white/red '59 Edsel Villager wagon instead. |

Carguy60 -- I work regularly on this show -- they do NOT shoot all the cars for the season at one time. No show does that. They shoot the cars for each episode on that episode's shooting schedule. It would be impossible for a show to shoot all the cars for an entire season at one time, as the scripts are altered and rewritten constantly throughout the season (I'm also a writer in addition to supplying cars.) The cars on Mad Men are supplied through Specialty Vehicle Association, a broker who keeps a massive database of cars of all types and vintages available for movies and TV. Oh, and I know your friend with the 60 Edsel. I made the mold for casting her taillight lenses -- if you talk to her, tell her to bring it back sometime... |

Well, I only went by what she told me. Yes, it sounds like you do know her. I didn't know you did the taillight mold. They turned out nice. I see the Villager made it into tonight episode. So, can you tell us what other cars we'll be seeing this season? |

The red and white 59 Villager is a nice car -- there was a Lincoln sedan that was too new for the show, but it sneaked in anyway. I had a white 62 Valiant there a few times, but I don't really keep lists of the other cars that are working. I remember a 55 or 56 ford that broke down -- but that's why I remember it. Most of us have done the rental thing for so long that we end up socializing more than tire-kicking... |

Season 1 - March to November 1960 Season 2 - February to October 1962 (skips 1961 for some reason) Season 3 - March to December 1963 Season 4 - November 1964 to October 1965 Season 5 - May 1966 to March 1967 Season 6 - December 1967 to ? -- Last edit: 2013-04-08 05:25:57 |

My friend shot some scenes in San Pedro on May 5th. Both Don and Betty get new cars for 1964. Don gets a red Imperial convertible and Betty gets a gold Chevy II wagon, which is quite a come down from the nice Colony Park she drove last season. |

That was not Betty Draper in 4.03 with the Chevy II wagon. It was Anna Draper's sister in that scene. -- Last edit: 2012-05-14 18:26:02 (antp) |

In the recent episode "Commissions and Fees", Lane receives a Jag as a surprise gift from his wife. He later tries to commit suicide in it by rerouting the exhaust into the interior with a garden hose. A bit of black humor plays out when he can't get the engine to turn over. As Bert Cooper once said, "They're lemons - they never start!" Also, this past season (5) has SCDP trying to attract Jaguar as a client. -- Last edit: 2012-06-06 19:14:47 |

They now have Chevy as a client! They're trying to find a way to market an experimental car that appears to be the one that will evolve into the 1970s era Vega. Anyone get a good shot of that Impala in ep. 6.07? |
|
◊ 2013-05-20 21:53 |
If you're talking about the Impala that Ken Cosgrove drives at the beginning of the episode, that's ep. 6.08. Although I agree it's a two-star vehicle, they don't really show enough of the vehicle to warrant an entry on the page. -- Last edit: 2013-05-20 21:53:58 |

That looks like 1968 version ![]() |

It at least should be mentioned and featured here in the film comments...which it is now. Thanks. |

Looking through all the pictures, I see the show has problems with staging cabs, the worst being a gross anachronism of a 1973 Checker in an 1966 episode. Are there other blatant or minor anachronisms in "Mad Men", vehicle-wise? |
