Here're the whole view of this bus: Link to "www.chinamotorbus.com" Link to "www.chinamotorbus.com" This is a AEC Routemaster, bought by Citybus (a Hong Kong bus operator) from London Transport, in second-hand. Later Citybus change the whole bus-body, into a classic look. Usually this bus is for rental service only, without carrying passengers formally. Except Citybus, Kowloon Motor Bus (another Hong Kong bus operator) also has some open-top old buses, made from Daimler CVG6: Link to "www.chinamotorbus.com" Link to "www.chinamotorbus.com" |

From what I've read, the bus in the film (HK 1931) is RML 1288, which was first rebuilt in 1984 with the platform on the right and the staircase on the left, as a demonstrator for export to mainland China: https://www.flickr.com/photos/woodslibrary/5450975812 https://www.flickr.com/photos/mr-bg/4295210007 It was trialled in Shenzhen, just across the border from Hong Kong, in 1985 but no orders followed: https://www.flickr.com/photos/79842765@N07/7447318164 |

RM1288 first registered at 1962/12. Link to "www.buslistsontheweb.co.uk" Photo by me before retirement at 2015... This bus is not scraped and had been "rescued" from scrapyard by a amusement group at about 2016/1 - 2016/2. This bus is snapped by me within a amusement park. The bus had already been delicenced at that time. Thus, the plate "HK1931" is not seen on the bus... Link to "www.flickr.com" Link to "www.flickr.com" This bus had been left HK but not scraped. Still exist somewhere around the world... For correction, this is a normal length Routemaster not a LWB version Routemaster. Only RM1288 exists but RML1288 not exists in the world... 3 videoes for this bus before retired by me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VibNIsWUyGo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48b8xHetssU Crossing harbour tunnel... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AffIsdwVVm4 Update 2016/9: Still store @ HK and last seen tow by a tow truck. Final destination for preservation still not known... https://www.facebook.com/plaxtonlbuspage/posts/1081981958506171 -- Last edit: 2016-09-23 00:09:11 |

I'm embarrassed that I didn't notice the mistake with the fleet number (RML not RM). |

http://c7.staticflickr.com/8/7297/12052467366_0d47ed450a_c.jpg More info. for this bus. The license said that the manufacturing year for RM1288 is 1964.... |

The Hong Kong licensing data for manufacturing date looks to be in error, along with all the adjacent registered Routemasters (e,g. in the range RM1260 - RM1299) it was 1962. RM1288 Registered '288CLT' Leyland O.600 December 1962 into service http://www.countrybus.org/RM/RM7g12.html |
