what makes Strüver unique is the selfsupporting monotank without chassis

As the accurate model number is most probably unidentifiable, why not setting this truck as LP [LP63] as done for some of its siblings?

Because it is rather a LPS [LP63] althoug unusual long WB with rare medium size cabin,
and there might be a chance to identify exact type by Strüver brochures.

What's the difference between the LP and the LPS?

"S" was for trailer-tractor ("sattelzugmaschine").

On the other hand these airport "tanker tractors" often had longer wheelbases than ordinary/factory tractors (it is not only case of this particular MB). If this conversion was made by external company, then it could be based on truck which left MB factory as LP.

there have been three german companies using this layout extra long wheelbase + monotank trailer for airfield refullers Strüver, Ellinghaus + Schwelm
to be found on airfields all over the world.
they kept typification of adding an "S" as the factory delivered LWB with saddle pan allread in place on rear axle here an Henschel F 420 "S" with actually 53 tons instead of 42
http://www.baumaschinenbilder.de/forum/thread.php?postid=305250
so Daimler Benz called it an LPS when it left the factory, as Strüver did either because it was intended use of special chassis

@andrepa:

Apparently LPS 1923 is one option http://www.trucknetuk.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=87980&start=30 .

quite reasonable 1. maximum payload and 2. driven only in plane 230 or 240 HP were standart!
tonnage was exhausted up to 0,250 tons!
