Strange mix, this car. First UK registration in 2003, but made in 1999, when Subaru had already launched the next Legacy. Tall [BK] roof, as used in North America. "L" badge, also US-spec. Small rear plate too, but it's right hand drive, and the lights aren't US-spec. This car also appears here : /vehicle.php?id=204294 |

DVLA MOT says date registered 31 December 1999, but that may or may not be UK. Foreign import (J, Aus etc) possible. Or something from Channel Isles, Isle of Man, Ireland etc. DVLA would need to state a primary date (either real or arbitrary) to calculate things like when first MOT needed etc. As far as I can tell UK only got the 2.2 with GX and GXS trim - not sure if we had any Legacy with just L - lowest rung seems to be LX or GL. |

This is a USDM spec Legacy wagon built at their US plant, made for postal workers and could be ordered with right hand drive new. There was a black one running around in my town. They aren't overly common though. -- Last edit: 2021-06-05 02:19:48 |

US lights aren't road legal here. It doesn't look JDM, so postal Scooby is probably the strongest explanation. |

its interesting that they could be ordered in various colors instead of following the US postal livery |

This is indeed an ex-postal service vehicle for the US market. |
