Bundeswehr-plate, so a goof. Until ca.2002 onwards all West German military vehicles were painted in NATO-olive. Mainly matt painted, but some official cars for higher ranks in shiny NATO-colour. The Opel Rekord was such a car for higher ranks. I'm unsure, if from Major upwards or from Lieutenant-Colonel upwards ![]() My commander in 1990/91 had such a 1983+ Rekord, too - in the famous poverty-spec 70hp-version. |

I noticed this, too? Right kind of car,but wrong color.(Should be a darker green, more Olive, not the lighter Green as above? Plus,I recall there should be some markings on it's bumper??) |

the Bundeswehr-cars were, until they swapped their car-, van- and light transporter-fleet ca. 11-12 years ago to leasing-vehicles, always painted in the dark green NATO-olive, except a few commander-cars in glossy NATO-olive (as my 1999 Omega, too ![]() No, the unit-markings weren't on the bumper, they were on the front bonnet and the back above the bumper. Commander-cars -as an Opel Rekord was- had a guidon-holder in the left front fender. It made me a bit unsatisfied, that, when I picked up my https://www.vebeg.de/web/en/start/index.htm Omega at the Bundeswehr-command in Berlin-Tegel back in 2004, the staff sergeant refused to give me the guidon or just its holder ![]() -- Last edit: 2015-08-22 21:13:11 |
