It has a lot to do with the Pierce-Arrow, especially the center-dipped bumper. The headlights are too low for Packard, and the body trim is farther from the bottoms of the windows. Thoughts?

Could be Pierce-arrow except for the side trim (see thumbnail) doesn't match any that I can find.

I would go with a 35 or 36 Pierce Arrow town car.

It's a 1936 Pierce-Arrow, (Brunn bodied) sits on 144" wheelbase. It is cataloged, in Pierce-Arrow Sales literature as a "Metropolital Town Car." Check out this car on the Pierce-Arrow Society web site: pierce-arrow.org It is alive, restored and a winner.

"The most glamorous Pierce-Arrow in the movies is in the last scenes of My Man Godfrey, as Carole Lombard alights from a Brunn-bodied 1936 Metropolitan town brougham, with its conspicuous swept side panel. Twilight As Pierce-Arrow wound down making automobiles in late 1936..."

Is that the actual car from the film? It's not mentioned in the story, only that four were made.

"...placed an order with Brunn for 4 Metropolitan Town Broughams. The notation "New York Show" appears above the entry in the Brunn order book indicating at least one of these cars would be used for promotional purposes, perhaps to encourage the sale of the 4 cars. Our feature car received body no. 4 and was shipped on January 28, 1936 to the nearby Pierce-Arrow factory for installation on chassis number 2600076. Upon receipt, the Boston Sales Co. is believed to have sold the car in New York City where its ownership history until 1947 remains unknown."

I also don't know where that "Salon Twelve" comes from. Wouldn't it be better as Metropolitan Town Car [1601] Brougham by Brunn?

^For consistency with the other Pierce-Arrows on the site I would suggest Model 1601 Metropolitan Town Brougham by Brunn [1601]
