Every single source of reference I've seen (Blue Books, Standard Catalog of American Cars, etc.) indicates that the 4-door hatchback (or 5-door, if you prefer) didn't come out until 1982. The 1981 Escort/Lynx was available as a 2-door hatchback or 4-door wagon only. This car is a 1982-85 model. (Probably 1982-84, since it's a 1984 movie.) |
