Correctly ID'ed but not because of the headlamp rims. State trim per chromed gravel guard.

There was a headlamp rim difference in 1950 (large for Commander and small for Champion, painted at first, then chromed at mid year).
The smaller, chromed Champion rim was then used in 1951 for ALL series.

The subject car appears to have a one-piece w/s and a '51 grille, the best I can tell. Can conclude Commander because the only Champions that had a bright gravel guard were the convertibles.

Have you seen this?
Mechanix Illustrated road test by the famous Tom McCahill -- gotta love his writing style!

I remember those old McCahill reports well. Read many of them. Don't specifically recall this one but it's been many years.
