To the person who posted this:- 1)Rolls-Royce or Bentley, or, perhaps Daimler, or maybe Armstrong-Siddeley, or perhaps something else but I don't know of a Humber or a Princess with this style of bodywork. 2)Somebody built the coachwork, but, since nearly every piece of identification information like the shape of the front and rear mudguards and the boot line and the way the grille is incorporated is missing, it's difficult to know who. If the purpose of this site is to provide identification of cars from films to inform those film buffs who want to know, at least give us a fighting chance. Probably a Royce, possibly a Silver Wraith but can't tell if it's short or long wheelbase because you can't see the whole of the rear door window, maybe Mulliner or Hooper but not necessarily. -- Last edit: 2013-12-26 13:23:13 |

Thank you both. I'm afraid that the second view doesn't add much, as both the coachbuilders mentioned did similar things with their doors and styling lines. The third window behind the rear door does, however suggest the rather ugly Mulliner limousine. The problem is that coachbuilt cars on luxury chassis were made in such small quantities that many have only very small differences between years and models. We can say that the car is probably one of the first generation after WW2, and more likely to be a Rolls-Royce than any other make, even Bentley, whose cars of the period contain a greater proportion of Standard Steel Saloons on the shortest chassis, IIRC 120" wheelbase. Showing the centre section of any coachbuilt car is not the same as showing the centre of a mass produced car like a Mercedes or a Cadillac, which were much more standardised than coachbuilt cars from Derby or Crewe.
