What about the 'Rundumverglasung'? Could this be a Kombi/Kleinbus with added skylights  There has already been stated that the 'Winkers' have been replaced so not original. Also the bumpers make me wonder. |

Yes, 21 windows Samba was a direct result of the larger hatch, 23 windows earlier. Bumper seems like a W128/180/105, btw. Edit: The front indicators could also be from the same donor car. Rear indicators really look out of place. -- Last edit: 2013-08-06 22:31:21 |

The rear indicators are a standard part, used for a plenty of vehicles, trailers, even carrousel cars and industrial machines. Still available today. |

My point was just that, it's no orignal part but used when replacing the semaphores (modernizing) as these were no longer in use on new cars after 1958-60 in Europe.  |

Although is not easy to be sure since there are several modifications, I agree it seems to be a modified Kombi. Sticking to some details, it looks that the side panel 3rd window is not "piano-hinged" and that the rear lights aren't doomed, so it could be a model made between January and March 1953. The Kombi received the rear bumper as standard fitment in December 1953 and so it could justify this adapted bumper with "Ponton" Mercedes overriders. The exterior mirror is also out of place, since it should be on the A-pillar. The one on the second thumbnail looks a brand new 1964MY one still sporting the German oval Z-plates. |
