No trace of MSJ 203P on check sites, but it was a genuine issue April-May 76 in Ayr (surprising source for a Manchester area police car??) and this one has 74+ vinyl pillars, so might be genuine (with or without police identity).

Bearing in mind it would be eight years old at time of filming it could be a de-commissioned car and they were more likely to be used for rural policing somewhere like Ayrshire.
