That is Argentinian Froilan Gonzales driving to win the British GP at Silverstone - the first F1 GP to be won at an average speed of over 100mph. This was a single spark plug-per-cylinder car at that time. It went back to the factory and was rebuilt with a two plug-per-cylinder engine and sold to Frenchman Louis Rosier. He built a sports car body for it, painted it blue and competed at the 1954 Buenos Aires 1000km. He sold it to an owner in NZ who built a new single seat body and it raced successfully in NZ events for several years. The engine then went into a racing boat in Australia. The chassis survived and in the 1970s was reunited with the engine and the car restored and raced in historic events. I believe it is now in Switzerland.

Whoops a typo - didn't read it all properly - corrected. I was just checking that date of the 1000km race - it was 1954 not 1953.
