Note for the ID of this: I've identified this as '66 2+2 because I found other same 66 (convertible) also as 2+2. /vehicle_256572-Pontiac-2+2-25467-1966.html There is also other 2+2 for 1965 /vehicle_415144-Pontiac-2+2-25267-1965.html But my question is about if 2+2 was, before 1967, inside Catalina series. This 65 Convertible [25267] /vehicle_415144-Pontiac-2+2-25267-1965.html I have found it as 'only' 1965 Pontiac Catalina http://classiccardatabase.com/specs.php?series=6324&year=1965&model=682 and this 66 2+2 [25467] /vehicle_256572-Pontiac-2+2-25467-1966.html I found it as 1966 Pontiac Catalina 2 + 2 http://classiccardatabase.com/specs.php?series=6333&year=1966&model=649 For the model picture shows, according the page I point, is a 1966 Pontiac Catalina 2 + 2 [25437] http://classiccardatabase.com/specs.php?series=6333&year=1966&model=650 On the contrary, according same page, for 1967 2+2 seems was an independent model from the Catalina series http://classiccardatabase.com/specs.php?series=8388&year=1967&model=594 http://classiccardatabase.com/specs.php?series=8388&year=1967&model=595 Post war Pontiac 1946-1976 http://classiccardatabase.com/postwar-models/Pontiac.php How do we list these 66, as 2+2 or Catalina 2+2? |

According to the book 75 Years of Pontiac Oakland, only the 1966 2+2s were considered a separate series - note that it is a 54 where in 1965 the 2+2 was a 52, the same as the other Catalinas. But it is called a Catalina 2+2. For 1967 they reverted to being 52 series the same as in other years. Venturas were always series 52 Catalinas. |

They were all marketed as 2+2 to the customers, behind the scenes they were either part of the Catalina series with option pack, or as a series of their own. They don´t have a doublename. 1965 Pontiac Performance Brouchure, Pontiac 2+2 only: Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" 1965, from full line brouchure, Catalina and 2+2: Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" 1966 Pontiac Performance Brouchure, Pontiac 2+2 only: Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" 1966, from full line brouchure, listed as separate models: Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" 1967 Pontiac Performance Brouchure, Pontiac 2+2 only: Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" 1967, from full line brouchure, still listed as separate models: Link to "www.oldcarbrochures.com" |

As I have stated in 1966 only they were a different series with a different number designation and were known as Catalina 2+2. In that era there was a mania among car makers for sub series within series. For all of the other years that it was available the 2+2 was only a trim option in the Catalina series. -- Last edit: 2011-10-28 10:16:20 |

Known as Catalina 2+2? Even with a seriescode separated from the Catalinas? |
