Another strange case. LTI/Carbodies but not an FX4R by the engine size. The vehicle details for MYO 377X are: Date of Liability 01 06 2001 Date of First Registration 23 06 1982 Year of Manufacture 1982 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2520CC Vehicle Colour BLACK |

That's a Carbodies badge on the grille. LTI wasn't created until 1984 (by the company that owned Carbodies) From Austin Rover Online: http://www.aronline.co.uk/index.htm?ado6indexf.htm So I'm not sure whether any had Carbodies badges before the FX4R was launched, but then maybe the grille's been changed on this one. At the moment no black cabs on this site are labelled as "Carbodies". -- Last edit: 2011-07-27 18:59:48 |

This is not the only one licensed as a Carbodies cab (and of course listed here as an LTI) that has the older engine: /vehicle.php?id=289541 and /vehicle.php?id=224953 . It seems that they were independent for a few months before they brought out the FX4R (in the autumn as the article says) with the new engine. Well that is my theory. As an aside the whole Carbodies/LTI thing is Pandora's box. Some sources have Carbodies as maker until the TX1 in 1997. -- Last edit: 2011-07-27 19:12:20 |

Some sources? Do you mean the plate check sites? An old discussion on this topic (maybe we should comment here?) /vehicle_122165-LTI-FX4R-1983.html -- Last edit: 2011-07-27 19:15:35 |

Not just them. I have books and magazines that refer to the maker as Carbodies for the Fairway. |

I think having the 1982-84 2.2 litre ones listed as Carbodies would be faily harmless (especially if they have a Carbodies grille badge). But some might say that splitting them into a new make would be too "confusing" (this is where a model/chassis code would help) |

Only one still listed as LTI with a year before 1985 is /vehicle_197041-LTI-FX4R-1984.html Is that one a LTI ? (smaller badge it seems) Plate does not exist on DVLA/MyCarCheck so could the year be 1985? |

I suppose I left that one because I wasn't sure about it. I don't know what badge that is on the grille, it doesn't look like the Carbodies badge. It can't be an LTI FX4S with those bumpers (they had black plastic ones) EDIT: That is a "Carbodies" badge on the grille. -- Last edit: 2012-05-29 21:27:01 |

With this one, perhaps the grille has been replaced so that's why it's got a Carbodies badge. I've renamed it as Austin, see this page /vehicle_224953-Carbodies-FX4-1982.html -- Last edit: 2014-06-25 18:25:26 |
