This is actually a CJ-7, not a Wrangler. Wranglers were not produced until the 1987 model year. This movie was released in 1985. |

CJ5-note short wheelbase |

This is a CJ7! Note the longer wheel base, square cutout door, angled top rail, indented tailgate. The high back seats are from around 1980 or later. |

The driver is also the film maker. Robert Zemeckis himself ! |

no. California plates were blue in the early 80s. they changed sometime around when this movie came out so thats why the delorean has a newer plate and that jeep has an older one. go look at KITT from knight rider which was in 1982 and you'll see the same blue plate |

I agree. The letters appear to be white rather than yellow. The expiration/renewal stickers are on the bottom of the plate and not the top. There appears to be text (probably "Great Lakes") on the bottom of the plate that California plates don't have. ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2012-02-11 06:00:10 |

The driver is definitely not Zemeckis. Walter Scott, stunt coordinator. http://backtothefuture.wikia.com/wiki/Walter_Scott |
