Jackie Chans charecter restores it, and then on the same day that he crashed it many years ago, he smashes it-his wife and daughter were killed. He is upset, etc. |

technically, it's a 1983 Scirocco GTI. The grille has the red stripe on it, which gives the GTI aspect of it away. given that it's a GTI, the '82 GTI didn't come with the European style headlights. Also the blueprint on his wall gives it away as well. It's a really emotional scene BTW! I still don't know how he uninstalled his front bumper and headlights with a sledge hammer. Let alone without breaking any of them! that's surgery skills! |

Not made in China, but made in Germany. ´ClassiCars - Made in Europe´ (www.classicars-europe.de) supplied 2 similar looking cars to Sony Pictures in China for the shooting. The one which was smashed in the film was a 1983 GTI with around 250000 km on the clock from Germany. Another car which was used for shots of the running car was a 1983 GT auto gearbox with original 40000 km in very nice condition, only 1 previous lady-owner from Switzerland. Colour of both cars was silver-blue. Jacky Chan is keeping both cars in his private collection as I was informed later. ![]() -- Last edit: 2013-11-15 17:42:37 |

No, all Sciroccos ever were built by Karmann in Osnabrück and Rheine in West Germany. |
