It appears that the Chevrolet 1/2-ton truck was indeed sold in Mexico with the old rounded line style up until 1991. In this case, I suppose this would have to be a 1989 R-1500. I will do more research and get back to you guys on this.

Here's the best shot of the badge I can get. it looks like it actually says 2500 (I guess that's an R at the front?)

Up front is the Chevrolet badge, not the "R." I can't find much information on Mexican Chevy trucks. This is the best I could find, a brochure for 1988 Mexican models:

lol I use that site on a regular basis as well ;)

Strange that this one uses the Chevrolet grille... most of the Mexican market Chevrolets that I have seen are actually GMCs (or Pontiacs) with bowties and Chevrolet Badging.

Here's one with the same 'bowtie-2500' badge easily visible http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.mx/MLM-50592315-cheyene-matona-fresona-_JM
If you search the listings for for Chevrolet Cheyenne you'll find many others in that year range. I'm not sure if they were actually sold as Cheyenne, or if they just call every Chevy p/u Cheyenne!

Sorry, just saw your comment. It appears as if the "Cheyenne" name is just the most commonly used term as that is what the Chevrolet trucks over there are known as now (as opposed to the name Silverado, which is used here in the States). It relates back to how many people mislabel the pre-1999 trucks as Silverados.
