When did this wheel introduced in our market? If there is a shot of rear exhaust system, we can narrow down more on the model year.... -- Last edit: 2010-07-11 21:47:42 |

@rljuna2: these wheels -steel, not aluminium or magnesium- were offered by Volkswagen as an original extra option since around 1973. I'm not sure, if there were any special versions of the Typ 1, which had them included in their "special edition packet". ![]() Maybe in the late 70ies some of the (Mexican made) special editions for the German market as "Silver Bug" or so. |

P.S. @rljuna2: I don't know the colour-name, but the question of the model-year is very easy. Due the rounded frontscreen it's a 1973+ 1303 (2nd "Super Beetle" in the USA), and it has the indicators on the fenders, so pre-1975. So there is only 1973/74 possible. ![]() |

@ingo: The indicators on the fenders does continues in our market until 1979 (final 'Beetle' Cabriolet) and that is why I was asking for the exhaust system... ![]() |

I agree with odd color scheme. ![]() I can see matching colors inside the boot (hood to US Yank ![]() ![]() |

actually the hood (or bonnet)is in the back of the car (covering the engine) a boot is the same thing as a trunk ![]() |

Here's what it looks like after they leave it in a bad neighborhood (In front of a police station. ![]() ![]() I haven't sent the movie back to Netflix yet, So I will watch the parts with the beetle in them and see if I can get a screen shot of the exhaust. |

Also for the Convertible? This was never built in Mexico or anywhere else except the Karmann-factory in Osnabrück. |

Here's the best shot I could get of the exhaust:![]() |

@ingo: The reason why we have indicator on the fender is that it has federal sidemarker that it could not be made with indicator on the bumper. So, they continue to use the fender mounted indicator... @boogieman: Since I am at work, I am not allowed to look into the thumbnail... I'll check it when I get home... |

Perfect, I see single exhaust system... So DAF555 is correct by the model year.... Link to "en.wikipedia.org" |

That's one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen. |
◊ 2014-04-25 07:18 |
And it was so ugly that it was built 21,5 million times from 1938 to 2003! -- Last edit: 2014-04-25 07:18:18 |
