This car is Will Darnell's car. Will Darnell is the cranky owner of "Darnell's" a do-it-yourself shop where Christine is fixed and trashed. Will Darnell is killed by Christine when he sits in a torched Christine. Christine then locks him in and makes her seat slide forward, squeezing him to death. In the book, Darnell is killed at his home. This car plays no role in the movie except is seen here. In the book it plays a bigger role with Arnie driving drugs for Darnell from Libertyville to other places like Detroit in this car.

It's also seen when Arnie arrives at the junkyard and the police are there investigating Darnell's death. But it's still two stars though.

In the book Darnell had a black, 1966 Imperial and it had a much bigger role, and a false trunk. Arnie is arrested when taking 200 cartons of Winston cigarettes in it to New York.

I'm sorry. In my copy there is not the scene when the DeVille is showed as old main picture. Here the old main picture.

How does he die in the book?

In the book, Christine crashes through his living room repeatedly while he tries to flee up his staircase, then finally rams the staircase hard enough to make it collapse...when he falls, she runs him over.

Wish they did that in the movie, That would have been awesome.

I wonder how many more 1958 Plymouths they would have destroyed doing it.

Actually from what I remember, Darnell rushes up the stairs with the intent of taking shelter in the attic. Christine does ram the staircase but it doesn't collapse; instead, the stress of the situation causes him to have a heart attack and fall back down the stairs where Christine finishes him off.
I do agree that this would've been a better kill than what we got in the movie but the book hadn't yet come out when the film was made. They may have wanted to do it but either the budget wouldn't allow it or it would've been too similar to a scene in The Car where the titular car kills a woman by smashing through her house. I've heard somewhere that King cited The Car as an inspiration for Christine.

Interestingly enough, in the night scene with the car pulling away from the curb, you can plainly see the horizontal moulding splitting the front side-marker / cornering light lens, which denotes this car as a 1974, *but* in the scene showing the rear of the car in the daylight, the inner horizontal rear lights have bright metal surrounds, which are specific to 1976 models! I can’t see clearly enough in either scene to know for sure if we have two different Cadillacs used during filming here, a ‘74 with ‘76 rear lamp trim, or a ‘76 with ‘74 front end!
